Vees Make a Trade with Divisional Rival

Press Release

PENTICTON, BC–The Penticton Vees Jr. ‘A’ Hockey Club has traded forward Dexter Dancs (’95) to the Vernon Vipers for forward Jedd Soleway (’94).

The trade is the first between the two divisional rivals in nine years, dating back to October of 2003. Then the Vipers sent defenseman Jason Buckle to Penticton for future considerations.

Soleway, 18, was in his second season with the Vipers, picking up five goals and 11 assists in 26 games. In 84 games the Vernon native has tallied 18 goals and 41 points. Soleway came to Vernon via the Okanagan Rockets of the British Columbia Major Midget League (BCMML), where he put up 16 goals and 33 points in 40 games in 2010-2011. Soleway will add a physical presence up front, standing at 6’3 and weighing in at 208 pounds.

Dancs, 17, was in his first season with the Vees after appearing in 15 games last season as an AP. Dancs had two goals and five points in 24 games and appeared in the Canadian Junior Hockey League’s (CJHL) Prospects Game in November. The North Vancouver native played last season in the Kootenay International Junior hockey League (KIJHL) with the Osoyoos Coyotes, scoring 67 points in 42 games.

The Penticton Vees organization would like to thank Dexter for his contributions to the Vees, and wish him all the best in his future with Vernon. Jedd will wear number 24 for the Vees and will make his debut on Friday when the Vees host the Merritt Centennials at the SOEC; face-off is 7pm.
