USHL Honors - Week 12

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM and Reebok player awards for the 12th week of the 2012-13 USHL regular season.

Award winners include Peter Quenneville of the Dubuque Fighting Saints, named the CCM Forward of the Week; Daniel Renouf of the Youngstown Phantoms, selected as CCM Defenseman of the Week; and Alex Lyon of the Omaha Lancers and Brendan Jensen of the Fargo Force who share honors as Reebok Goaltender of the Week.

Peter Quenneville, F, Dubuque Fighting Saints: He led the Fighting Saints, and the USHL, in scoring over the weekend registering eight points, four goals and four assists, and was a key piece in a pair of huge wins for Dubuque.  Friday night, the Edmonton, Alberta native registered a pair of power play goals and an assist to lead the Fighting Saints to a 5-3 win over Team USA. His impressive play would continue on Saturday as he netted a pair of goals, including one on the power play, and the would-be game-winning marker, in a 7-1 victory over Chicago. He also dished out three assists and had a plus-four on-ice rating in that contest.  Quenneville’s eight-point weekend moves him into second on his team, and fourth overall in USHL scoring with 32 points (13g, 19a).

Daniel Renouf, D, Youngstown Phantoms: He snapped an eight-game point drought as he registered a pair of goals and a pair of assists to help the Phantoms to a weekend split with Des Moines.  On Friday, he tallied a pair of goals, including one shorthanded, and had a game high plus-four on-ice rating to lead Youngstown to a 5-0 victory over the Buccaneers.  Saturday night saw the Pickering, Ontario native pick up a pair of assists in a 4-3 loss to the Bucs. His four-point weekend now has him third on the team in defenseman scoring with eight (5g, 3a) and he leads the Phantoms with a plus-17 rating which ranks tied for fourth overall in the USHL.

Alex Lyon, G, Omaha Lancers: The netminder backstopped the Lancers to two of their three wins over the weekend.  On Friday night in Lincoln, he turned aside 31-of-32 shots and denied three of four attempts in the shootout on the way to a 2-1 victory.  After a night off on Saturday, he was in net for a 29-save performance on Sunday as he led Omaha to a 5-1 victory over Sioux Falls.  For the weekend, the Baudette, Minnesota native was 2-0-0 with a 0.96 goals-against-average, and a .966 save percentage. His win on Sunday gives him 10 for the year, which ties him for sixth in the USHL. He is also sixth in the League with a 2.45 GAA and fifth with a .919 SV%.

Brendan Jensen, G, Fargo Force: The Force grabbed three wins over the weekend and Jensen was in goal for two of them.  He stopped all 26 shots he saw on Friday night to record his first USHL career shutout as Fargo exploded for a 9-0 win against Team USA.  The El Granada, California native then stopped 28-of-30 shots to lead the Force to a 5-2 victory over Muskegon on Saturday. Overall, Jensen was 2-0-0 while posting a 1.00 goals-against-average and a .964 save percentage.  He has won seven of his last nine starts, including winning all four of his appearances on the road.
