QJAAAHL BURROWS WINS OPENER 5-2

Press Release

The defending champion QJAAAHL picked up their second victory of the 2012 Central Canada Cup All-Star Challenge presented by Huff Estates in memory of Peter Huff as this time Team Burrows downed the CCHL Robinson Division 5-2 in the final game of the first round of the round-robin.

Alex Gagnon of the Princeville Titan, Anthony Nellis of the Sherbrooke Cougars and Marc-Anthony Therrien of the Princeville Titan all notched first period goals to stake Team Burrows to a 3-0 lead after one period of play.  Between the pipes, Paul Bourbeau Jr. of Longueuil College-Francais stopped all nine shots that he faced.

Early in the second period, the QJAAAHL Burrows All-Stars would take a commanding 5-0 lead on the strength of goals from Vincent Blanchette of the Terrabonne Cobras and Vincent Marcoux of the Princeville Titan.  The CCHL Robinson Division would attempt to make a comeback with markers from Luke Edwards of the Carleton Place Canadiens and Michael Pontarelli of the Cornwall Colts, but would ultimately fall short in the opener for both clubs.

Bourbeau would take home Player of the Game honours for Team Burrows, while Edwards received the same for the Team Robinson.
