Danault, Cüpper and Carrier named the TELUS three stars of the week

Phillip Danault, Marvin Cüpper and Samuel Carrier we named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period extending from December 3rd to the 9th.

Phillip Danault, the Victoriaville Tigres centreman, is the first star of the week. During the Tigres' two wins in front of their home crowd, Danault collected 8 points, including 7 assists, while maintaining a +/- of +3. Friday, in a 7-3 win against the Moncton Wildcats, who had incidentally just registered a 7 game winning streak, Danault and his teammates stole the show. The captain of the Tigres was chosen as the 1st star of the game, having scored 1 goal and added 3 assists for a total of 4 points. Saturday, in a 4-1 win against the PEI Rocket, Danault was named the 2nd star of the game for his involvement in each one of his team’s goals with 4 assists. It was his 5th QMJHL career game with 4 points. Danault will participate this week in the junior selection camp for Team Canada, for the upcoming 2013 World Junior Championship.

The second star of the week belongs to Marvin Cüpper, the Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender. In 2 important games against the Sherbrooke Phoenix, the 18-year-old German rookie goaltender helped his team collect 3 points out of a possible 4. Friday, with 23 stops, he got his first QMJHL career shutout victory and was named the 3rd star of the game. Saturday, during a 3-2 shootout win, he made 27 saves and was named the 1st star of the game.

Samuel Carrier, the Blainville-Boisbriand defenseman, maintained a +/- of +7, totalling 6 points (1+5). On December 7th, in a 6-5 shootout  loss at the hands of the Rimouski Océanic, Carrier posted a +/- of +3 and added an assist on the tying goal which forced the game into overtime. He was named the 3rd star of the game. On December 9th, in a 8-1 win against the Val-d’Or Foreurs, he scored a goal and added an assist for a +/- of +3. He is now ranked 9th among the League’s defensemen with 22 points.
