Clutch weekend earns Smokies captain McMullen POW honours

Trail Smoke Eaters forward and captain Garrett McMullen has been named the BCHL's Gongshow Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 9, the league announced Tuesday.

McMullen led the Smokies to a pair of overtime wins and was named 1st Star both nights. The Rochester, N.Y. native scored the winner in double OT to go along with an assist in a 2-1 victory against the Vernon Vipers. He followed up wth two goals in a 6-5 triumph over the Langley Rivermen.

The 20-year-old now sits second on the Smoke Eaters in scoring with 30 points, good enough for 14th in the BCHL.
