Press Release
CHESTERFIELD, VA. - The Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL) has announced that Philadelphia Jr. Flyers forward Ben Brouillard (left), New Jersey Rockets defenseman William Campion (middle) and goaltender Anton Yanin have been named the Offensive, Defensive and Goaltender of the Week, respectively, for the week ending Dec. 23.
Brouillard, from Somerset, Mass., connected for three goals and an
assist as the Jr. Flyers celebrated a two-game sweep over the Washington
Jr. Nationals. On Friday, the 1992-born tallied a goal and an assist in
a 6-0 victory. The next day, the 5-foot-9, 155-pounder struck for a
pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Jr. Flyers
downed the Jr. Nationals, 4-3.
“Ben worked hard all weekend and was rewarded for his efforts,” said Jr. Flyers head coach Jerry Domish. “He’s one of the smallest players on our team, but uses his speed and experience to create offensive opportunities.”
Campion, a Seaford, N.Y., native, rang up four assists as the Rockets
fashioned a 2-0 record. On Thursday, the 1995-born picked up three
assists in a 6-0 triumph over the New Jersey Titans. Two days later, the
6-foot-3, 175-pounder registered another assist as the Rockets blanked
the Philadelphia Little Flyers, 5-0.
“As William’s game develops, he’s going to be something very special,” said Rockets head coach Bob Thornton.
“He's still young, getting stronger by the day, and his game is still
evolving. He contributes so much to the team offensively, and is a big
part of our physicality on defense.”
Yanin, from St. Petersburg, Russia, backstopped the Rockets to both
victories, turning aside all 52 shots he faced. Against the Titans on
Thursday, the 1992-born made 31 saves. On Saturday, in New Jersey’s
victory over the Little Flyers, the 6-foot, 175-pounder stopped 21
shots.
“Anton singlehandedly picked up four points for us with his play,” said
Thornton. “He made save after save which allowed our offense to take
chances. You're only as good as your goaltending, and Anton was
outstanding both games.”
