WHEAT KINGS UP FOR AWARD!

Press Release

Brandon, MB. -- The Western Hockey League's Brandon Wheat Kings are one of three local businesses that have advanced to the final stage of judging for the 2012 Manitoba Business Awards.

The City of Brandon has confirmed that the Wheat Kings have been named a finalist for the Small Business category, which consists of businesses with less than thirty employees.

Meanwhile Murray Auto Group / Murray Auto Centre and Smooth Freight have advanced in the long-term achievement business rural category, which is open to businesses that have operated for more than 25 years.

The finalists represent three of five businesses that the Economic Development Brandon office and Brandon Chamber of Commerce submitted applications for awards.

Wheat Kings' general manager Kelly McCrimmon, who was instrumental in Brandon earning the right to play host to the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup, was named Brandon's Businessman of the Year in 2011.

Winners will be announced on October 18th at the Manitoba Business Awards Gala in Winnipeg.
