Jaw Warriors General Manager Alan Millar has announced the acquisition
of Jordan Messier from the Tri City Americans in exchange for a fourth
round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.
Messier, 6’2” 195lbs, is 20 years old
and entering his fifth and final year in the WHL. In six games this
year with the Americans he has one goal and three points to go along
with his +3 rating and two penalty minutes.
The right winger from Canmore, Alberta
has played in 270 games in the WHL, scoring 77 goals and has 163 points
and 224 penalty minutes. He has appeared in 58 playoffs games, scoring
14 goals and has 28 points and 21 penalty minutes. Messier was the
Americans first pick in the 2007 WHL Bantam Draft, he was selected in
the second round 40th overall, and he’ll make his Warriors debut Saturday October 13th when the tribe hosts Prince Albert.
With the overage deadline coming up on
Thursday, the team has released forward Austin Bourhis. Bourhis has
played in four games with the Warriors this season and has one assist
and 17 penalty minutes. The Kipling, Saskatchewan product has played in
117 games in the WHL with Medicine Hat, Prince Albert, and Moose Jaw.
