SJHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Press Release

Rhyse Dieno, La Ronge Ice Wolves
1993 F Rhyse Dieno is back in the SJHL after playing last season in the Western Hockey League; and he’s been a major source of offense for the Ice Wolves, contributing 9-points in his first 5-games.  Last week, Dieno scored one of his team’s goals in a loss to Flin Flon and then sparked the club over the weekend with a three point effort in a victory over Estevan and then another three point performance in a one-goal loss to Weyburn.

SJHL DEFENSEMAN OF THE WEEK
Tyler Kauk, Estevan Bruins
1993 D Tyler Kauk is more known for his defensive play, but Kauk has stepped up and emerged as Estevan’s leading point getter through the first half dozen games of the season.   Kauk had a goal and two assists in leading the Bruins to their first win of the season on Thursday against Nipawin.  Despite losing each of their next two games and only scoring two goals, Kauk factored in on each goal on Friday and Saturday to finish the week with a goal and four helpers in three contests.

SJHL GOALTENDER OF THE WEEK
Warren Shymko, Kindersley Klippers
1992 G Warren Shymko has played every minute of Kindersley’s first four games this season and he’s backstopped the club to three victories, including two last week.  Shymko was stellar in a 3-2 overtime win over Humboldt on Tuesday and then held off the high flying Melville Millionaires on Saturday as the Klippers posted a 3-1 decision.  Shymko has a 1.97-GAA for the year and a SPCT better than the .907 indicated on the league website (shots not included in the Humboldt game).

SJHL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Connor Gay, Kindersley Klippers
1995 F Connor Gay has picked up, at least, one point in each of the three games he’s dressed this season.  A late addition to the roster from the WHL, Gay looks like he’ll be one of the team’s go-to players up front as factored in on two of the Klippers’ three goals in a 3-2 overtime decision over Humboldt on Tuesday.  He had an assist in a 3-1 win over Melville on Saturday and now has 4-points in 3-games overall.
