The Erie Otters of the Ontario
Hockey League, in cooperation with Wendy’s, have announced that all
Wednesday home games at Erie Insurance Arena will benefit an Erie-area
charity during the 2012-2013 OHL season. The program will be known as
Wendy’s Big Assist Wednesdays.
Fans can donate an item to the respective Wednesday game and purchase a ticket to that game for just $2. Items can be collected at the Otters Office at 201 East 8th Street leading up to the game or on the day of the game at Erie Insurance Arena. All Wednesday games start at 7:00 p.m.
Wendy’s Big Assist Wednesdays kicks off with the Fifth Annual Hockey for the Hungry game on Oct. 24 against the Saginaw Spirit. Fans who donate a non-perishable food item can get into that night’s game for $2 thanks to Eriez Magnetics. All proceeds will benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania.
“We’re very proud of our fans that give back to the community,” Otters Director of Operations John Frey said. “Wendy’s Big Assist Wednesdays will help out the great local charities in need as well as provide affordable family entertainment to the Erie area.”
Other charities that will receive donations from Wendy’s Big Assist Wednesdays are the Salvation Army, Coats for Kids, Erie Children’s Museum, Shriners Hospital for Children and the Erie City Mission.
* - One toy or coat is good for up to four tickets at $2 each.
# - One package of diapers is good for up to eight tickets at $2 each.
All other promotions one item donated equals one ticket at $2.
