Press Release
Township of Langley, BC, Wednesday, October 17, 2012:
The Langley Rivermen Junior “A” Hockey Club is pleased to announce the
commitment of Thomas Nitsche (1992 born) to Colgate Univerisity for
2013.
Nitsche was named the second captain in Langley
Rivermen history in the summer and this season he has registered one
goal and one assist through 11 games. Nitsche fielded many offers from
different schools in the past two seasons, but decided Colgate would be
the best route for him,
“We are excited for Thomas, he had a
couple of offers last season, but they did not work out the way he
wanted it to. If he goes to Colgate and performs like we know he can,
we believe he is going to play on TV some day and might be a pro,”
Emmerson said about his captain.
Colgate University is
located in Hamilton, New York with the Men’s hockey team playing
division one out of the ECAC. When asked to describe Nitsche as a
player, Coach Emmerson was quick to point out he brings a lot to the
table,
“He is a hard, skilled, physical defenseman that is
tough to play against and that makes life miserbale for opposing
forwards on a nightly basis, we could not be happier for him and we
believe he will have a bright future”.
With the two
commitments in the past week, the Rivermen now have a total of six
players that have signed to a college or university. (Bo Pellah-Penn
State, Logan Smith-Holy Cross, Evan Campbell-UMass-Lowell, Austin
Azurdia-UConn, Thomas Nitsche-Colgate, and Viktor Dombovskiy-Yale)
