BLADES AND BRONCOS EXCHANGE VETERANS

Press Release

Saskatoon, SK -  The Saskatoon Blades are pleased to announce the acquisition of Graeme Craig from the Swift Current Broncos.

In exchange for the 19 year old defender, the Blades have traded veteran forward Brent Benson.
Craig, a native of Red Deer, Alberta, is listed at 6'5 and 215 pounds.  He's appeared in exactly 200 career regular season games in his WHL career, all with the Broncos organization.  So far this season in 11 games he's posted one assist, a +2 rating and 13 PIMs.

"With this deal, we felt we had to address an area of need on our hockey club," said Blades Head Coach and General Manager Lorne Molleken.  "We're really pleased to bring in a player like Graeme Craig.  He brings in a lot of experience, good size, he's difficult to play against and we look forward to having him in our lineup."

Benson, a native of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, has spent his entire career with the Saskatoon Blades, appearing in 206 career regular season games and posting 103 points.  He was the Blades 2nd selection (6th overall) in the 2008 WHL Bantam Draft.

"This trade was a difficult decision for us," added Molleken.  "Brent is a player who's been with us ever since we drafted him.  He's been very solid for us over that time and we just want to wish him all the best."
The Saskatoon Blades would like to thank Brent Benson for all of his hard work, dedication and leadership throughout the year.  The team would also like to welcome Graeme Craig and his family to the Blades organization.
