AMERICANS ACQUIRE CHYNOWETH FROM SILVERTIPS

Press Release

KENNEWICK, WA – Tri-City Americans Governor/General Manager Bob Tory announced today that the team has acquired 17-year-old Ryan Chynoweth (pron. Shuh-Nowth) from the Everett Silvertips in exchange for a conditional 5th round pick in the 2014 Bantam Draft.

Chynoweth, a 6’1 175-pound forward from Cranbrook, British Columbia, was originally drafted by Everett in the 2nd Round (24th overall) in the 2010 Bantam Draft and made his WHL debut against Tri-City on January 1, 2011.  Last year, in his rookie season, Chynoweth appeared in 66 games, totaling 2 goals, 8 points and 40 penalty minutes.  He also appeared in all 4 of Everett’s first round playoff games against Tri-City, going without a point but collecting 2 penalty minutes and a plus-1 rating.

Ryan is the son of current Kootenay Ice Governor/President/General Manager, Jeff Chynoweth.
“Ryan is a quality kid who adds depth to our forward crop,” said Tory.  “I’ve known the Chynoweth family for a long time and we welcome the addition of Ryan to our roster.”
