Prince
George Spruce Kings goaltender Kirk Thompson has been named the
Gongshow BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 14, the league
announced Monday.
Thompson led the Spruce Kings to a pair of
wins and allowed just one goal along the way. The Surrey native got the
win in a victory over the Powell River Kings and followed it up by
stopping all 38 shots in his second BCHL shutout, a 3-0 win over the
Surrey Eagles where he was named 1st Star.
The 20-year-old
netminder had a 0.50 goals-against average and .981 save percentage on
the weekend. He tied for second in the BCHL with seven wins and is in
the top-10 in goals-against average, save percentage and saves made.
