Vees goalie Katunar earns POW honours with hot start to Finals

Penticton Vees goalie Chad Katunar has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the Week ending April 8, the league announced Monday.

Katunar earned three wins last week including the first two games of the Fred Page Cup Finals agains the Powell River Kings. The Victoria native was named a game star in each contest including a 1st Star nod for his 29-save Game 2 performance.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound goaltender made 99 saves on 103 shots last week for a .961 save percentage. In the playoffs, Katunar is now 10-3 with a 1.63 goals-against average.

Honourable mentions this week include Powell River Kings goalie Sean Maguire (.936 sv%, 1.67 GAA, 1st Star, 3rd Star), Vees forward Bryce Gervais (2G, 3A, 1st Star, 2nd Star), Kings forward Cohen Adair (1G, 2A, 3rd Star) and Vees forward Joey Benik (3G, 1A, 3rd Star).
