USHL Playoffs First Round Schedule - Eastern Conference

The United States Hockey League today announced the first-round schedule for the USHL Clark Cup Playoffs in the Eastern Conference which begins Monday, April 16th.

The Anderson Cup champion Green Bay Gamblers and Indiana Ice have secured the top two spots in the Eastern Conference standings, thus earn byes in the first round and automatic berths into the second round.

The first round of the playoffs follows a best-of-three games format, matching the #3 seed against the #6 seed, and the #4 seed vs. the #5 seed. Winners of each series advance to play in the second round which follows a best-of-five games format.

Securing the #3 seed in the playoffs is the defending Clark Cup champion Dubuque Fighting Saints. They will host Team USA, who makes their second consecutive playoff appearance, in a best-of-three series that begins Monday, April 16th at the Mystique Community Ice Center in Dubuque, Iowa.

The #4 seed Youngstown Phantoms earned the first playoff berth in their three-year USHL history. They will host the #5 seed Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, who have secured a spot in the Clark Cup Playoffs for the 12th consecutive season, beginning Monday, April 16th at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown, Ohio.

Matchups for the first round of the Clark Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference have yet to be determined and will be decided based on position in the standings following the last weekend of play in the 2011-12 USHL regular season. A full schedule will be released once the matchups have been set.
