Press Release

Apr 17, 2012

Rochester, NY -- The Rochester Americans have announced that Brandon Wheat Kings' center Kevin Sundher has joined them for the upcoming American Hockey League Calder Cup Playoffs.

Sundher is the third member of the Western Hockey League's Wheat Kings to join an AHL club in the past 48 hours. While netminder Brandon Anderson is en route to the Hershey Bears, left-winger Michael Ferland was assigned to the Abbottsford Heat on Monday by the National Hockey League's Calgary Flames.

A 19-year old native of Surrey, B.C., Sundher signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres last December and was acquired by the Wheat Kings from the Victoria Royals at January's WHL Trade Deadline.

A 4-year WHL veteran, Sundher scored a career high 26 goals this past season. He added 49 assists for 75 points in 58 games. In nine playoff games for Brandon, the Royals' all time leading scorer had a goal and three points.

In 273 career WHL games, the 5'11" 185 lb. Sundher scored 94 goals and 252 points, while accumulating 327 minutes in penalties.

Sundher was Buffalo’s third-round draft pick (75th overall) in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.

Rochester will meet the Toronto Marlies in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals, which begin later this week.
