MHL Mourns loss of Former Chairman

The Maritime Junior Hockey League is in mourning this weekend with the sudden loss of Former Chairman of the Board of Governors, Rory Beck. Beck, who was an instrumental figure during his time with the league serving as Chairman of the Board of Governors and as a key figure with the Charlottetown Abbies, passed away suddenly on Friday.

"The entire Maritime Junior Hockey League was shocked by the sudden passing of Mr. Beck on Friday", said MHL Chairman of the Board of Governors John Lynn. "Rory served the league tremendously in his time with Charlottetown and as Chairman. He was an exceptional man and was well liked by all of his colleagues. On behalf of the entire MHL, I wish to express sincere condolences to Rory's family on their loss".

"Suddenly at his late residence on Friday, April 13, 2012 of Rory Beck of Charlottetown, age 54 years. Beloved husband of Gaylene (nee MacLure). Dear father of Luke, Jacob and Dylan. Son of Shirley and the late Dr. Malcolm Beck; brother of Angus (Donna), Gordie (Jane), Callum (Lorraine) and Norman (Sharon) Beck. Son-in-law of Wilma and Sterling MacLure. Brother-in-law of Sharon Carver and uncle to Taylor and Erin.

Resting at MacLean Funeral Home Swan Chapel. Funeral Tuesday from Central Christian Church at 11 a.m. Interment in Cross Roads Cemetery. Family flowers only, however if so desired memorials to Central Christian Church or Sport PEI would be appreciated.
