Defenceman Golightly is fourth Spruce King to receive scholarship

Press Release

The Prince George Spruce Kings would like to announce the NCAA Division I scholarship commitment of Chase Golightly to Robert Morris University beginning with the 2012-13 season.

“As an organization we are very happy that Chase was able to achieve his goal of securing an NCAA Division I scholarship,” said Spruce Kings General Manager, Mike Hawes. “Chase has been a very good player for the Prince George Spruce Kings for the past two season and has become a premier defenceman in the BCHL. He is very deserving of this achievement and we all wish him the best in his hockey career."

First coming to Prince George in December of 2010, Golightly has played in 84 games with the Spruce Kings amassing a total of 8 goals, 48 assists and 71 minutes in penalties. Those 56 points place the offensively gifted defenceman in the top ten among blue liners for career points with the Spruce Kings.

Golightly will become the first Spruce Kings alumnus to attend Robert Morris University which is located outside Pittsburgh. The Colonials men’s hockey team plays in the Atlantic Hockey Association and has former BCHLers Scott Jacklin, Jeff Jones and Jimmy Geerin on the roster.
