SIJHL Semifinal match-ups set

Press Release

THUNDER BAY, Ont. -- The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Sunday that the match-ups for the semifinal round have been set.

As overall winners of the 1 vs. 2 Showdown following a tiebreaking shootout that required 11 shooters apiece to determine the outcome on Saturday evening, the No. 2 Fort Frances Lakers earned the right to choice their semifinal opponent.

Fort Frances has opted to take on the Dryden Ice Ice Dogs, which means the Wisconsin Wilderness will take on the Thunder Bay North Stars in the other match-up.

By virtue of their higher records during the course of the regular season the Wilderness remain the top seed while the Lakers are second as the two sides will have home ice advantage in the semifinals.

Both series will be best-of-seven affairs with the higher seeds having home ice for games one, two and if necessary five and seven.

The game schedule for each respective series will be released once they are finalized.
