Eagles' Orser takes it up a notch in first weekend of playoffs

Surrey Eagles defenceman Beau Orser has been named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending March 18, the league announced on Monday.

After posting a stat line of zero goals and 10 assists in 51 regular season games, the Penetanguishene, Ont. product went off for two goals and two assists in a pair of Eagles wins over Cowichan Valley to begin the postseason.

Orser set up a pair of goals including the game-winner in a 4-3 win in Game 1 and then notched two tallies of his own in Game 2 where he was named 1st Star. The 5-foot-8, 160-pound blueliner is the early leader in BCHL playoff scoring.

Honourable mentions this week go to Merritt Centennials goalie Lino Chimienti (two wins, 1.00 GAA, .967 sv%, 2nd Star, 3rd Star), Powell River Kings forward Cohen Adair (one goal, three assists, 2nd Star), Chilliwack Chiefs forward Trevor Hills (one goal, two assists, OT GWG, 1st Star), Powell River Kings forward Daniel Schuler (one goal, two assists, 1st Star) and Merritt Centennials defenceman Brandon Pfeil (two goals, GWG, 2nd Star).
