SPORTOP PERFORMER OF THE MONTH

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Wednesday that Jordan Larson of the Fort Frances Lakers has been named the opening Sportop performer of the month award recipient for the 2011-12 season.

In 16 games during the time frame the honour is based, which includes all of October as well as the last two weeks of September, the 16-year-old rookie forward racked up a league-best 31 points on 15 goals and 16 assists.

Larson, a Fort Frances native, currently leads the SIJHL in scoring and tops all skaters in the league in goals, assists and points with 18, 16 and 34 respectively helping his squad sport the best record in the league at 13-2-2.

The Lakers first-year standout is also currently riding a seven-game point streak having amassed 13 points in that span.

Larson has also recorded 10 multiple-point games so far this season and has only been held off the score sheet twice during the campaign helping his club sport an impressive 13-1-1 mark in contests in which he registered at least one point.

For his on-ice efforts he will be recognized at a future game and presented with a gift pack courtesy of Sportop Marketing Inc.

Honourable mention for the Sportop performer of the month award went to the following:
