New recruits for recruitment at the QMJHL

The commissioner of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Gilles Courteau, announced today the hiring of Jean-François Grégoire as Recruiting Director for the Province of Quebec and Troy Dumville as Recuiting Director for the Atlantic Provinces and the United-States. “Recruiting is the cornerstone of our league. It’s for this reason that we remain proactive with the implementation of new initiatives, including hiring Jean-François Grégoire and Troy Dumville as Recruiting Directors. Grégoire et Dumville will have the task of meeting players and their parents to inform them of our programs on and off the ice while sharing our values. The QMJHL, is after all, a school of life and this message must be well understood by players and parents.” declared M. Courteau.

Jean-François Grégoire played for four season in the QMJHL with the Granby Bisons (1989-90 to 1991-92), the Shawinigan Cataractes (1991-92) and the St-Hyacinthe Laser (1991-92 to 1992-93). He scored 113 goals and added 143 assists for a total of 256 points in 249 games. After his career with the QMJHL, he went to the University of Moncton where he played for four years. Afterwards, he played as a professional in the United-States and Europe. He presently works as an associate in the Sport-Études program Le Triolet, at the Training Centre “Attitude Hockey” in Sherbrooke. “I am very happy to be able to undertake this new challenge. This position will permit me to communicate directly with parents and players and inform them about the excellent programs that we offer at the league” said Grégoire.

Troy Dumville was a coach with the Maritime Junior A Hockey League (MJHL) until 2010. He was Director of Hockey Operations and head coach of the Dieppe “Gagnon” Comandos and assistant coach with the Saint John Sea Dogs and the University of Moncton’s Aigles Blues. M. Dumville worked for 6 seasons at the QMJHL’s CSR and evaluated players for the Atlantic Provinces before being hired as Assistant General Manager of the Saint John Sea Dogs during their inaugural season. Troy Dumville has a bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Mount Allison. He is also a well known hockey figure in the Atlantic Provinces. Mr. Dumville said “I'm very passionate about hockey and understand how important recruiting is for the league. I think that my knowledge of the sport and my experience with young people will help me to be a good ambassador toward our young prospects and their parents.”
