Ice Defenseman Kuqali Commits to RIT

The Indiana Ice announced that defenseman Alexander Kuqali has committed to begin his collegiate career next season at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT).

Kuqali is playing his third USHL season with the Ice and has collected five points (1g, 4a) and a plus-five in 12 games this season. His first goal of the season was the game-winner in the 7-4 victory against Team USA on October 8th. The 6-2, 220-pound native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is also serving as one of the team’s assistant captains this season. Kuqali, 20, first appeared in the USHL playing 46 games during the 2009-10 season. For his career, he has played 95 games in the League and recorded 23 points (2g, 21a) in addition to three points (1g, 2a) in 14 playoff contests.

Kuqali will be joined at RIT by Ice teammate Woody Hudson who is also committed to the school. RIT is a member of the Atlantic Hockey Association and a total of six USHL alumni are on the roster this season; Cameron Burt (Green Bay Gamblers), Ben Lynch (Cedar Rapids/Lincoln), Shane Madolora (Omaha Lancers), Taylor McReynolds (Green Bay Gamblers), Chris Saracino (Green Bay Gamblers), and Jeff Smith (Tri-City Storm).
