Gamblers Trade Wilcox

The Green Bay Gamblers of the United States Hockey League (USHL) have traded goaltender Adam Wilcox to the Tri-City Storm in exchange for the their 1st round pick in the 2012 USHL Entry Draft.

Wilcox is in his second season with the team. In 9 games this season, Wilcox is 7-2-0 with a 2.27 GAA, and a 91.8 save percentage.

Last season was a good season for the Green Bay netminder. In 24 games, Wilcox went 16-6-1, with one shutout, and a 2.20 GAA. By season’s end, Wilcox ranked third among active goaltenders in the
USHL in GAA. Wilcox’s solid play garnished attention from NHL scouts and he was drafted in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lighting.

“This was a very tough trade for us.” said head coach Derek Lalonde, “The fact that Ryan McKay came back to us late in the summer, meant we were going to have to move a goaltender. Adam is a very
good goalie and a better person and we appreciated his time in Green Bay.”

Moving forward the Gamblers will rely on goaltenders Ryan McKay and Mike Rotolo.

McKay returns for a third season with the Gamblers. McKay is just 12 wins shy of being the all-time wins leader for the franchise. Currently this season, McKay is 5-1 with a 1.67 GAA and a 93.4 save percentage.

The Miamirecruit had an outstanding 2010-11 campaign. McKay led all USHL goaltenders in goals against average (2.00) and save percentage (.928). For his efforts, the Green Bay netminder was named 2nd team All-USHL. During his rookie campaign in 2009-10, McKay posted a 14-8-2 record to accompany a 2.20 Goals Against Average and a .909 Save Percentage

Rotolo put together a great season this past year with the Buffalo Regals. Appearing in 12 games for the Regals, Rotolo posted a 7-1-4 record, to accompany a 1.75 goals against average and a .937 save percentage. Rotolo was the goalie of record when the Regals won the 2010 New York District Title.
In the championship game, Rotolo shined stopping 24 shots.
