FINNEY ACCEPTS NCAA OFFER FROM COLGATE

Press Release

Trenton Golden Hawks netminder Spencer Finney (photo credit - Brian Watts/OJHL) has confirmed his commitment to join the Colgate University Raiders (NCAA DI) program beginning with the 2012-13 ECAC season.

The 5'11", 165 lbs. native of Pontypool, Ontario, is currently in his fifth OJHL season. Finney started as a 16-year old rookie with the Port Hope Predators back in 2007-08 and then relocated with the franchise to Trenton in 2009-10. He would set personal bests in 2009-10 with a 23-7-2 record, including a 3.06 goals against average, .917 save percentage and three shutouts. Thus far, this season, the 20-year old has led the Golden Hawks to a first place battle in the East Division with the Cobourg Cougars and is on pace to set new career-bests in most categories. He currently sits with a 9-2-2 record and a 2.80 gaa in 13 games played.

It is not just on the ice where Finney excels, but off the ice as well. Academically, the lanky netminder is on the Dean's List and the Scholar's List, while also being an Ontario Scholar. Now with his scholarship confirmed, Finney's goal is to get a degree in Criminal Justice, while continuing his hockey career at the next level.

Congratulations to Spencer and best of luck the rest of the season and beyond!
