Press Release

MONTREAL, Tuesday, February 15, 2011 - The Board of Governors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League today voted new rule changes during the Semi-Annual Assembly held at the Marriott Hotel in Dorval. The changes will take effect next season.

Firstly, in case of a tie in the standings, the team with the most wins at the end of the regular season shall be awarded the highest rank between the tied teams, excluding wins acquired via shootout.

Secondly, teams can now select 15 year-old players in any of the first eight rounds instead of just the first five rounds starting at the 2012 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Finally, the Board of Governors accepted the nomination of Marc Desforges as the new Governor of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens following the resignation of Guy Carbonneau who took behind the bench of the franchise.
