Gamblers Forward Selects Notre Dame

Green Bay Gamblers forward Sam Herr has committed to play hockey at the University of Notre Dame beginning in 2012.

Herr has collected 17 points (7g, 10a) in 38 games this season and is tied for second on the club with a plus-12 rating. The 18-year-old native of Hinsdale, Illinois is playing in his rookie season after being selected by the Gamblers in the 2010 USHL Entry Draft.

Eight other USHL players are committed to play collegiate hockey at Notre Dame; Peter Schneider (Indiana Ice), Eric Johnson (Dubuque Fighting Saints), Garrett Peterson (Lincoln Stars), Thomas DiPauli (Team USA), Robbie Russo (Team USA), Andy Ryan (Team USA), Austin Wuthrich (Team USA), and Vince Hinostroza (Waterloo Black Hawks).

The University of Notre Dame Fighting Irish are a member of the CCHA and currently ranked #9 in the nation. The team has 18 USHL alumni on the roster which is tied for the most in the CCHA; Jared Beers (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Jeff Costello (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), David Gerths (Green Bay Gamblers/Lincoln Stars), Ryan Guentzel (Sioux Falls Stampede), Stephon Johns (Team USA), Mike Johnson (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Nick Larson (Waterloo Black Hawks), Joe Lavin (Omaha Lancers), Anders Lee (Green Bay Gamblers), Kevin Lind (Chicago Steel), Billy Maday (Waterloo Black Hawks), Kevin Nugent (Tri-City Storm), Calle Ridderwall (Tri-City Storm), Ryan Rust (Team USA), Steve Summerhays (Green Bay Gamblers), T.J. Tynan (Des Moines Buccaneers), and Mike Voran (Sioux Falls Stampede).
