Converted blueliner Manson inks with Quinnipiac

Press Release

The Salmon Arm SilverBacks hockey club is pleased to announce that defenceman Josh Manson has accepted a scholarship to NCAA Div. I school Quinnipiac for the 2012-13 season.

The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Prince Albert, Sask. native saw his stock rise considerably this season after making a successful switch from forward to defence.

"Josh has only started to realize his full potential at the position", said Salmon Arm head coach Tim Kehler. "Having played just the last two thirds of the season as a defenceman, it has been incredible to watch his development from week to week.

"By the time he moves on to college, Josh has the ability to be a dominant player."

Manson posted 10 goals and 14 assists last season playing up front but almost doubled his point total this year playing predominantly as a rearguard. He scored 12 goals and added 35 assists for the 'Backs this season.

The son of former NHLer Dave Manson, Josh will play one more year with the SilverBacks before going to Quinnipiac.
