Team USA defenseman Michael Paliotta has committed to play collegiate hockey at the University of Vermont following his USHL career.
The 6-4 defenseman from Westport, Connecticut posted seven points (1g, 6a) in 32 USHL games in 2009-10 while playing for Team USA's Under-17 squad. Paliotta, who also served as alternate captain, scored his first goal in the League and dished out an assist for a two-point game in the 6-3 loss to Fargo on November 21st.
Five other USHL players from the 2009-10 season are committed to attend the University of Vermont; Connor Brickley (Des Moines Buccaneers), Blake Doerring (Des Moines Buccaneers), H.T. Lenz (Des Moines Buccaneers), Colin Markison (Omaha Lancers), and Anthony DeCenzo (Tri-City Storm).
The University of Vermont is a member of Hockey East and had 10 USHL alumni on the roster in 2009-10; Drew MacKenzie (Waterloo Black Hawks), Kyle Medvec (Sioux City Musketeers), Colin Vock (Des Moines Buccaneers), Brian Roloff (Green Bay Gamblers), Ben Albertson (Indiana Ice), Jack Downing (Omaha Lancers), Tobias Nilsson-Roos (Cedar Rapids RoughRiders), Dan Lawson (Lincoln Stars), Rob Madore (Chicago Steel), and Mike Spillane (Omaha Lancers).
