Beukeboom added to WJHC Development Camp

Press Release

The Soo Greyhounds Hockey Club, in conjunction with Hockey Canada, is pleased to announce that defenseman BROCK BEUKEBOOM has been added to the roster for the upcoming National Junior Team development camp.

The camp is scheduled for August 4th to 7th in St. John’s N.L.

“This is a great opportunity for me to get a real taste of the best in Junior Hockey and to prove that I can play there” explained Beukeboom.

The third-year Hounds defenseman will join over 40 players vying for a roster position on Team Canada’s entry at the 2011 IIHF World Junior Championship set to be held in Buffalo and Niagara, NY.

The latest recognition for the Uxbridge, ONT native comes after he was selected this past June in the third 3rd Round (63rd overall) of the NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Internationally, the 2nd-generation Greyhound has previous time with Hockey Canada at both the Under 17 and Under 18 World Championships and Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament (U18).

“Attending the World Junior Camp will be a great experience for Brock. To spend time learning and competing with the best Junior players in Canada along with some of the top Junior coaches will certainly enhance Brock’s growth” commented Hounds GM Dave Torrie.

“The Soo Greyhounds organization is proud to have Brock represent us at the Canadian World Junior Camp while his teammate Brandon Archibald represents the organization at the USA World Junior camp” concluded Torrie.

Following his time with Hockey Canada, Beukeboom will join other Greyhound hopefuls for the opening of the team’s 2010 Training Camp at registration on Saturday, August 28th.
